On the trail of the Black Pigs Dyke

Today Kilkenny Archaeology and Shirley Clerkin (Monaghan heritage officer) were carrying out detailed mapping of the linear earthworks of the dyke in south west county Monaghan. This is part of the Black Pig’s Dyke Regional Project which is funded by Monaghan, Roscommon, Leitrim, Cavan and Longford county councils.

Funding

The Black Pigs Dyke Regional Project 2014 was funded by the heritage offices of Monaghan, Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon and the Heritage Council.

Project team: Cóilín O Drisceoil (Kilkenny Archaeology), Barry Fitzgibbon (Kilkenny Archaeology), Dr Stephen Davis (UCD), Dr Mary Leenane (NUI Maynooth) and Mary Teehan (Heritage Project Manager).

Funded through the Local Authority County Heritage Plans of Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon and Longford with assistance from the Heritage Council.
