Magheracar

At Magheracar, near Bundoran, Co. Donegal, a 355m stretch of linear earthwork comprising a bank flanked on either side by a ditch was excavated by Brian O’Donnchadha in advance of road construction.

Ash charcoal from the bottom of one of the ditches was dated by radiocarbon to cal. AD 60–420 (Beta-206066), indicating that silting of the ditch had begun in the late Iron Age.
