Leitrim: Worm Ditch or the Black Pig’s Race
Situated to the east of Dough Mountain in the valley of the County River, the linear earthwork begins 1km south of Lough Melvin and extends as a double bank with a medial ditch in six sections (3.6km in total) towards Lough MacNean upper, a distance of 10.3km. It is unclear whether the lengths ever originally joined together and many appear to terminate in wetlands. No excavations have been undertaken along its course.
